Pikes Peak gives Tucson's Saddletramps a desert chill 94-81

Submitted by azdr on June 28, 2008 - 11:07pm.

We have a flash final score from Bladeworld in Tucson:

WFTDA-INTERLEAGUE
(6) TUCSON ROLLER DERBY SADDLETRAMPS - 81
(26) PIKES PEAK DERBY DAMES SLAMAZONS - 94

Sloppy Flo did not skate tonight due to asthma. With all of the brush fires here in Phoenix and down in Tucson, I can totally understand any skater who is also asthmatic sitting out. Flo's presence may have helped TRD win this bout or at least narrow the margin.

The AZDR was not at this bout.

Well derby fans, as we come to an Independence Day break, the Arizona derby world has one more interleague and then after the holiday, we will countdown to Rollercon 2008. Unfortunately, I will not be able to go this year. Sorry, my real job does have to come before derby, even though I wish the situation was different.

On June 14th, 2008, Bloomington’s Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls (BHRG) hosted one of the Cincinnati Rollergirls’ teams in a bout dubbed “Scars and Stripes”, in honor of Flag Day. The Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls all-star team, The Flatliners, took the win 113-65 over Cincinnati’s Silent Lambs. The Flatliners had the home court advantage and a strong desire to take down the Lambs after a devastating loss to their league in Cincinnati last season.

AZDD: Beauties out-skate the Brides, Draggers put nail in Bombshells' coffin

PHOENIX, AZ - June 14, 2008 - The Castle Sports Club was definitely the Phoenix hot spot last night both outside and inside the venue. It's that time of the year when it's 105 degrees outside and inside, the swamp coolers at the Castle don't do anything but turn Arizona into Florida.

From what I could see, attendance was slightly down compared to previous bouts. I think the cost of gas is putting a crunch on some fan's derby dollars, but the die-hard fans were definitely there and there was definitely an audible roar along 19th Avenue last night.
