The skaters are out warming up and the announcers are getting ready to introduce the teams, each for the third time this weekend.

Ginger Snap leads a contingent of GGRD skaters over to the Detroit bench for some good luck wishes.

No lineup changes announced. So the lineups should be as follows:

This is the only sport I know of where the teams cheer and high-five each other as much as their own team.

The girls are out and there's the whistle.

Gotham starts off with a quick 5 by Suzy Hotrod. Killbox finally gets through for Detroit, earns Lead, and calls Suzy off.

Racer McChaseHer adds another 3 to her large total for the tournament, but GGRD matches it with 4

Cheap Skate adds another 4 to the GGRD total. Gotham looking strong, but of course it's way too early to assume anything.

And Suzy Hotrod with a smart jam to bring GGRD up to 21. Detroit's jammers are having trouble with the Gotham pack

Timeout Detroit. They huddle up to discuss their problems

MavTV is getting great access and footage all weekend long,by the way. The camera was right in the huddle for that timeout.

Cookie Rumble takes Lead jammer for Detroit but she can only get 2 as the Ginger Snap and the Gotham pack close in

Ouch. Racer takes a scoreless Lead while Hotrod gets a grand slam.

Racer out again, gets her 4 this time and calls it off

Detroit loses their jammer to the bos in a 2 minute jam. Beatrix Slaughter jams alone and picks up the pace for a few scoring passes. Vega Vendetta comes out for Detroit but doesn't have time to score

Bonnie Thunders adds 4 more for GGRD while the pack shuts down Honey Suckit. To make matters worse, Detroit loses another jammer to penalties and Cheap Skate gets to go out alone.

Hotrod goes to the box for GGRD. Detroit's Rock Candy turns up the heat but the pack shuts her down again. She comes away with 1.

And that's the end of the first, GGRD up by 42 already.

Just a couple minutes before we get going again. Gotham skates a few laps, but Detroit skates right to the bench.

The whistle blows and the second period starts with Detroit jammer Racer McChaseHer going alone as Suzy Hotrod sites in the box yet again. Detroit adds a much needed 4

Honey Suckit fights hard for another 2 for Detroit while GGRD adds 3. The GGRD pack is brutal

Gotham continues to dominate in the pack. Jam stops as EMTs are called to the track for a Detroit player. Both teams take a knee.

Elle McFearsome helped off the track, looks like a tailbone injury. The EMTs leave her to her bench, so it's hopefully not a break.

Refs get the game going again. It's Detroit's turn to shut out Beatrix Slaughter and Racer pulls out a grand slam

Detroit is definitely stronger in this period. They're actually pretty even in the first 10 minutes of the period. But that -42 first means they need to do more than keep it even.

But then they (Detroit) lose their jammer to a penalty again, shortly after Beyonslay knocks her out with a hip check. GGRD plows through and adds more points to their formidible lead

Detroit gets 2 Leads in a row, but can't add many points.

The second period ends on a 68 point deficit. This game is 60 minutes long, but this one is pretty much over.

At this point, both teams just need to focus on not getting hurt. They'll both play again tonight; Detroit will need to be back on the track again in less than 2 hours.

The third starts off with GGRD adding a few on a Lead jam from Suzy Hotrod

Both teams add four. The pack is still battling hard.

Honey Suckit of Detroit flies around the track but the GGRD pack shuts her down.

Racer McChaseHer vs. Suzy Hotrod in a jammer matchup we've seen several times tonight. Racer takes Lead, but GGRD matches her 4.

The Gotham Girls just marching through this tournament. Over 130 points in every bout.

Racer McChaseHer pulling out several Lead jams, but again, the GGRD pack is extremely difficult to get through.

One thing I haven't mentioned about the track here: The penalty box is right next to the pack lineup line, at the end of the straightaway. The girls seem to have a side-contest going on to see who can execute the most elaborate slide into the box.

And that's that. The girls exchange hugs and GGRD takes a victory lap to celebrate their climb to the top bout.
