Next up will be the fresh Philly Roller Girls to take on the Gotham Girls Roller Derby. These teams are closely ranked, but rankings don't seem to be meaning much in this tournament. Stay tuned for more flat track mayhem.

Correction: I've had Atlanta listed as 7th seed and Chicago as 10th all along. I had them reversed. The Windy City Rollers were seeded 7th.

Philly takes Lead jammer 3 times in a row, but the Gotham jammers are right behind. The Philly pack holds them back

Bonnie Thunders closes the gap for GGRD

Both teams skating very fast. Teflon Donna earns Lead jammer, but gets caught up in the pack. Hotrod gets through. It's a 1 point game

Gotham jumps out ahead for a jam. But two GGRD blockers both thrown off for holding on to each other in the wall. Philly will have a power jam.

Beyonslay and Donna Matrix form a pack of their own and hold Philly to 3 while the GGRD jammer picks up 4

Beatrix Slaughter adds another 4 to the lead

It's another back and forth, close match. Both teams scrapping out every point. Teflon Donna gets another 4 for Philly, Hotrod matches it.

And they go off for the break with 14 points between them

Word just came through that Windy City's Donna Party, injured in the bout against Madison earlier today, has a broken leg and will likely be off skates for a while. Probably will not be able to skate in Austin with her squad.

GGRD and Philly back on the oval. GGRD hold their lead and adds to it.

Mo Pain takes back 3 for Philly

More bad news for Philly, jammer Summer Assault goes to the penalty box, leaving Beatrix Slaughter to jam alone and pick up 8

GGRD controls the pack for a 2 minute jam and extend their lead to 30. More dancing for the cameras. These NY girls sure like to boogie, and the scoreboard gives them good reason. Philly needs to put it together right away if they're going to come back.

Philly jammer sits in the box again, GGRD adds a couple more.

Timeout on the track. GGRD jammer thrown off and a helmet goes bouncing. Philly's Summer Assault lines up for a much-needed lone jam

Philly picks up 5 on the power jam.

GGRD continues to dominate the pack. Philly jammers are just getting stuck while the Gotham jammers slip through.

A great jam by Mo Pain adds 5 for Philly, but the GGRD lead is still 34 at the end of the 2nd period

Philly is back on the track a few minutes early, trying to get the blood flowing for their massive comeback

The third period starts up with a tough jam for both teams. Lots of scrapping in the pack.

Philly coming out hard but GGRD continues to build the lead a dribble at a time. Philly jammers getting knocked out or down frequently, holding them to 1 or 2 points

GGRD jammer Beatrix Slaughter hits the floor three times as Philly adds 5 to the board. Mo Pain adds another 3 as GGRD seems to be relaxing a bit.

Third Lead in a row for Philly, Teflon Donna this time, but no points scored as Suzy Hotrod gets ahead and Teflon has to call it off.

Teflon gets Lead status two jams in a row, but again scores zero.

Anne Phetamean puts 9 more nails in the coffin in her first appearance of the night as jammer. The GGRD lead grows to a round 50.

GGRD bench turns into another dance party, thanks to the thumpin' DJ, as the game ends.

Fans line the track for the victory lap as GGRD celebrates the third upset of the day. The whole Gotham squad gets engulfed and kidnapped by their fan section.
