Pikes Peak gives Tucson's Saddletramps a desert chill 94-81

Submitted by azdr on June 28, 2008 - 11:07pm.

We have a flash final score from Bladeworld in Tucson:

WFTDA-INTERLEAGUE
(6) TUCSON ROLLER DERBY SADDLETRAMPS - 81
(26) PIKES PEAK DERBY DAMES SLAMAZONS - 94

Sloppy Flo did not skate tonight due to asthma. With all of the brush fires here in Phoenix and down in Tucson, I can totally understand any skater who is also asthmatic sitting out. Flo's presence may have helped TRD win this bout or at least narrow the margin.

The AZDR was not at this bout.

BHRG Flatliners Ride Herd Over Cincinnati’s Silent Lambs

Submitted by Snide_Piper on June 16, 2008 - 4:41pm.

On June 14th, 2008, Bloomington’s Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls (BHRG) hosted one of the Cincinnati Rollergirls’ teams in a bout dubbed “Scars and Stripes”, in honor of Flag Day. The Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls all-star team, The Flatliners, took the win 113-65 over Cincinnati’s Silent Lambs. The Flatliners had the home court advantage and a strong desire to take down the Lambs after a devastating loss to their league in Cincinnati last season.

AZDD: Beauties out-skate the Brides, Draggers put nail in Bombshells' coffin

Submitted by azdr on June 16, 2008 - 8:02am.

PHOENIX, AZ - June 14, 2008 - The Castle Sports Club was definitely the Phoenix hot spot last night both outside and inside the venue. It's that time of the year when it's 105 degrees outside and inside, the swamp coolers at the Castle don't do anything but turn Arizona into Florida.

From what I could see, attendance was slightly down compared to previous bouts. I think the cost of gas is putting a crunch on some fan's derby dollars, but the die-hard fans were definitely there and there was definitely an audible roar along 19th Avenue last night.

BHRG Flatliners Lead Cincinnati Silent Lambs to Slaughter

Submitted by Snide_Piper on June 6, 2008 - 3:23pm.

BLOOMINGTON, IND. (June 6, 2008) – On June 14th, 2008, Bloomington’s own Bleeding Heartland Roller Girls (BHRG) will host the Cincinnati Rollergirls in a bout at the Bloomington SportsPlex. After a successful inaugural season last year, the league has grown enough to form two home teams, the Farm Fatales and the Slaughter Scouts, as well as an “All-Star” team, the Flatliners.

Bay Area victorious over Tucson Roller Derby, 96-39

Submitted by azdr on June 2, 2008 - 7:58am.

On May 31, 6 ranked Tucson Roller Derby Saddletramps hosted 10 ranked Bay Area Derby Girls B.A.D.Girls at Bladeworld in Tucson. This was a 2 30-minute period game being played under WFTDA 2.1.1 rules. There was an interesting crowd there tonight. I had met folks from Duke City, whom I had announced a bout for them out here last year. Also down from Las Vegas, is the Grand Poobah of Derby. There was also a silent auction taking place to help raise funds for the Saddletramps. This included things like artwork, certificates for local businesses, the original speed skates of Sloppy Flo as well as the infamous TRD smack-rack.

Fatales Snatch Victory Patch from Scouts

Submitted by Snide_Piper on May 20, 2008 - 11:53am.

The Bleeding Heartland Rollergirls held their first intra-league bout Saturday, May 17, at the Sportsplex in Bloomington, Ind. This is BHRG's second season, having recruited enough skaters this past winter to field two home teams: the Slaughter Scouts and the Farm Fatales. The squads have been practicing together as a league, and separately as teams since March, and Saturday night was their first official public bout: Sibling Rivalry!

  • AZDD: Beauties and Brides win their bouts oh my!

    Submitted by azdr on May 14, 2008 - 12:34am.

A good friend and I took in the Arizona Derby Dames bout on May 10. This was a bout that I promoted as a "Michi-chan MUST SEE" event and the "DD" in AZDD should mean "Dames Delivered". Now, I know that I did wrong by my friends on the Brutal Beauties to make the decision to wear my Scrapper skirt that night. But then again, I predicted the Scrappers to win (I will talk more about that later). Anyway, Red Rocker decides take things into her own hands and decides to take out a derby fan, me. Well honestly, Rocker and I planned this and it made a good show.
