Showing us all that the days of southwestern domination are entirely over, the third seed Seattle squad defeated both the first and second seeds, within hours of each other, to take home the Dust Devil championship and secure a pole position in September's national finals. The first day of the 2007 WFTDA Western Conference Tournament is behind us, and the recaps and blog posts are starting to pop up. There will surely be more as the animals on hand wake up in the desert derby paradise known as Tucson. Those lucky bastards get to sleep in this year. Last year we had to up at the crack of dawn for 8am bouts! Anyway, here's some stuff to check out. More to come as it appears around the web.

This Saturday, Jan 7th 2007, interleague derby action will converge on Wichita, Kansas at the Big Boy Toy Show (at the Century II Events Center). The exhibition tournament will feature six leagues: Assassination City (Dallas, TX), Kansas City, No Coast (Lincoln, NE), NorCal (Chico, CA) Texas Rollergirls (Austin, TX) and the ICT Roller Girls (Wichita, KS). Here's your chance for a KCRW preview - all eyes will be on them in the Western Region Tournament (Dust Devil) next month.

The Bumbershoot Flat Track Derby Invitational is coming up fast and it looks like we finally have a schedule. It will be a brutal schedule with two pools and two final matches all in one day. Based on the schedule, it looks like pool bouts are 20 minutes and final bouts will have two 20 minute periods. More info coming soon. Read on for the pools and schedule....

The Kansas City Roller Warriors got some press today over at the Kansas City Star. They sing a common refrain: "But first you’ve got to find a parking spot." Derby popularity has a downside! Who woulda thunk it? Complete with video. Well, ok, it's just a slideshow with music. But go watch it anyway.
