The Tough Cookies earned a few more merit badges while the Sirens had their case thrown out of court, as the Girls in Green took down the Women in Blue, 32-26.

Pounding the Sirens relentlessly for the first 6 jams, the Cookies tasered the Black and Blue with an immediate and commanding 10 point lead, the Sirens calling in a 2-12 score to the station house. The battle was a bloody one, with members from both teams in penalty box jail for most of the jams.

By the end of the first quarter, the Coppers had the Scouts surrounded and pulled in another 5 points to bring the score to 12-7 in favor of the Cookies.

But the 5 minute break gave the Sirens time to tactically regroup. For a few jams they took the lead, but for the remainder of the second quarter, the audience went wild as the Cookies and Sirens were tied, exchanging 1 point leads, a jam called off for a minor injury to Raggedy Anarchy (she was back in the second period) and the last jam of the quarter fought to a 0-0 stalemate. The Cookies had a razor thin lead, 17-16.

The sub-crew dominated the jams again, with jammers Leia Mout and Gori Spelling once again teamed up, this time on the Cookies, Mila Minute and hard pounding blocker PITA joining the Sirens. But the veteran defense on both teams didn’t make it easy.

The Sirens came out swinging their batons hoping to crumble a few Cookies, opening the third quarter with satisfying 3-0 and gaining a 2 point lead. But it was short lived, as the Green Machine again cranked up their wall in front of the pack while blazing a trail for their jammers through the Bad Cop defense, ending the quarter 29-23, Cookies.

Then the gloves came off. The Sirens again started with a 3 point jam. But it was the last they’d earn as the Cookies really cranked up the defense and stopped letting Siren’s jammers slip through their net. The Sirens also turned up the volume on their defense. For both teams, it came at a cost. Star Siren’s blocker, Juana Beatin’, and Tough Cookies captain, Iron Maiven were both ejected from the game for excessive penalties. 5 of 9 jams were fought to a 0-0 standstill, and 3 of the remaining 4 jams were defensive 1-0 scores as neck and neck jammers called off the jam after scoring a single point to keep the other team from scoring. In several of the 0-0 jams, the crowd booed as jammers called off jams before hitting the pack the instant before they were about to be overtaken by the competing jammer (in the Derby Dolls game, the lead jammer is always a contested position).

But the Sirens failed to arrest the Cookies lead, the Cookies skating away from the long arm of the law 32-26.
