In memory of the Phoenix City Rollers

(a Michi-chan opinionated bitch)

In a time, not so long ago, let's say about 3 months ago. There was an AZRD team called The Bruisers. This was not the same Bruisers team of today but a totally different team. With skaters like team captain TNTia, Mink Stole, Chi Chi Roni, Nacho Girlfriend and others, this Bruiser team kicked ass.

Santa Cruz Rollergirls say "Valley Go Home" to the Silicon Valley Rollergirls!

New leagues hit the rink hard this past Saturday, March 15, 2008 as the Santa Cruz Rollergirls' all-star team won their debut bout against the Silicon Valley Roller Girls. With a final score of 66 to 56, the bout was tight near the end, but that didn't stop the fans at the sold-out Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium from hootin' and hollerin' so loud you couldn't hear the referee whistles.

In the end the black and blue clad Santa Cruz Rollergirls sent the valley girls packing back over Highway 17, appropriately dressed in their green uniforms -- possibly the color of envy?

Renegades skate for national TV audience

Last Sunday, I was invited to come down to an old warehouse in Downtown Phoenix to watch the Renegade Rollergirls put on a bout at their new practice location. This bout, being put on for a by-invitation-only audience, was also being recorded by a major sports network for a documentary on alternative sports. Renegades came in from all of their sister leagues including Orange County, San Diego and Bend, OR.
